Limen-Award

Limen Club is a contemporary art initiation program series created in 2025 for a closed community. Throughout the year, its members explore the diverse world of Hungarian contemporary art together, whether through studio visits, exhibitions, or behind-the-scenes tours of museums. The aim of the initiative is to break down the invisible barriers surrounding contemporary art and show that this world is not only exciting and diverse, but can also be made accessible and understandable to anyone. You don't need to be an expert—individual experiences and interpretations are just as important and valuable.

Announcing a competition is a natural step for Limen Club, as our mission is based on supporting contemporary art and promoting it to a wider audience. Our community is committed to supporting young talent, and we believe that the power of art should be accessible to everyone. The Limen Award not only offers emerging artists an opportunity to exhibit their work and receive financial support, but also provides a platform where their artworks can engage in direct dialogue with the audience. With this initiative, we are not only strengthening the club's community, but also actively contributing to the revitalization of the domestic contemporary art scene.

The award is given by the members of Limen Club – not by a traditional professional jury, but by a committed community that knows from its own experience that art truly comes alive when the audience also plays an active role in the process. This does not mean pushing professionalism into the background, but rather recognizing that personal perspective, individual sensitivity, and honest dialogue are just as important parts of the artistic discourse. The aim of Limen Club is to bring the art world and the audience closer together, while offering real opportunities for emerging artists.

Selection of candidates

The Limen Club team will evaluate the applications received using a scoring system. The five applicants with the highest scores will be invited to a personal presentation where they can present their work and concept to the members of the Limen Club. The final decision will be made by the club community through a vote based on the presentations.

The winner of the Limen Award will receive a solo exhibition at The Space and a cash prize of 200,000 forints!
