Artist / Designer Ërell experiments with an ephemeral form of appropriation of urban space. His work is rooted in the practice of tagging in Bordeaux in the early 2000s. In 2006, inspired by minimal art, urban art and organic design, he began simplifying his signature. Inspired in particular by Olivier Stak, East Erik, Jürgen Mayer and Sol Lewitt, he eventually reduced it to a simple geometric shape, the hexagon, which he later fragmented.
The genesis of this new identity lies in the transformation of a handwritten signature, initially a tag, into a modular, reproducible visual emblem whose main function is to be identifiable by all, while at the same time being striking and lively.
His work is nourished by the bridges he creates between urban art and design, both in the conception and realization of his productions. This transversality is at the root of the transformation of his graffiti practice into work on geometric abstraction.
