Gábor SZENTELEKI
"One of the basic aspirations of my painting is to show only enough of the human body to tell the particular little story I want to tell. These are often not stories at all, but feelings, fragments, crumbs of reality that speak to me with their intimacy. The bodies in the paintings are not body parts, but entities in their own right that give the feeling of the human body, but are formally adapted to the content. Such is the case with the series Home, which evokes the archetype of the dwelling house. The form is the same, the contours draw a virtuous line around the identities, but within them, they can still show themselves through personal details. Impressions of memories, traces of sunburns, wounds, freckles, bloodstains of blushes bring to life the human hidden inside."
